If your traveling in or around Reno on your next Vacation, be sure to stop by Virginia City Nevada. It is like stepping back in time to the Wild West.
We try to make a trip up here as often as possible. The girls, who call Virginia City “Cowboy Town,” just love looking for the Cowboys so they can say “howdy.” Well, my girls were in luck because the two rowdy cowboys were ready for anything, anything except for my sweet girls who melted their hearts quickly. Next time we visit, we will catch these catch these cowboys in a Wild West Shoot Out!
You can’t help to get into character when your surrounded these old buildings that are still in operation, for the most part. Even the sidewalks are made of wore out slabs of wood, it’s awesome just watch your step.
Oh, it’s not all the old west.
Shopping in Virginia City
Hidden inside these old Virginia City buildings are amazing shops where you can find unique treasures like jewelry, clothes, purses, toys, hand-crafted art and so much more.
I am showing you just a small amount of things to do here. We still have to go on a train ride through these amazing hills. I’d love to take some old west photos. How about going on a guided tour through a real mine!
Did I mention the shootouts?
We could have done that all day, but there is so much to see and do, like be a cowboy or a cowgirl! There are spots like this on the street. I have pictures of my son when he was little on one of these, but it was a camel. They use to have camel races up here, I’ll have to see if that is still an event.
Grab some Grub
We usually always have lunch at one of the eateries, there are plenty to choose from. Today the girls chose hotdogs and burgers, but next time Mommy gets to pick and that will be some tri-tip down at the end of the street. There are also several spots for Ice Cream, we can watch a couple places make fudge and there are candy shops where you can relive your childhood. But usually, we wind down our trip with some ice cream.
I bet you can see why they like “Cowboy Town” so much.
If you’re into something a little more heart pounding, you could always go on a ghost tour. My older girls got a little taste of this but changed their mind quickly.
Our kids wanted to go up the stairs to see if there were any ghosts. They changed their mind as soon as they got there. pic.twitter.com/fYenrGnP1R
