This serve ware collection can be used in the oven, on the stove or grill, in the freezer and so on. I have many ideas and plans for this “Dip” tray and not one includes dip. My first thought was to make mini apple pies.
We made our favorite pie crust, and let it chill in the refrigerator while we gave the bowls their first wash and got to work. The girls and I rolled out the dough and used the bowls upside down to measure the size we would need.
The dough fit perfectly. Next we added small diced pieces apples to the bowls. There are many choices of apples, I love the contrast of sour with the sweetness of sugar and cinnamon.
The girls love apples so was surprised we had any left for the bowls…We filled the bowls fairly high added the cinnamon sugar mixture (mixture is 1 cup sugar 1 tablespoon cinnamon).
Looks yummy already. We covered half the pies with dough and made the other dutch style.
I placed the three bowls on the tray and into the oven as I would any other pie and it worked nicely. Here is the finished product…
