With the New Year comes New Year Resolutions. Many of those resolutions will be to “eat healthier” so why not start with the first meal of the day.
General Mills just announced their commitment to further reduce the sugar content in their cereals advertised to kids ages 12 & under. They are also working to increase other things like Calcium & Vitamin D.
So when your thinking of healthier foods and healthier snacks keep in mind the advantages of “ready-to-eat” cereals:
- Those who eat cereal consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters.
- Those who eat cereal have healthier body weights and lower BMI measurements.
- Children who eat breakfast score higher on tests
- miss less classes
- are tardy less often
- fewer reported disciplinary problems
