This weekend I got a couple days with my sister Elaine and she was telling me how much she enjoyed “Spiced Nuts”. So I thought what a nice present that would make her. I made batch last night and my house smelled strong of spices, but good.
Here is a recipe for Brandy Spiced Nuts…
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 tbsp. brandy
4 tsp. Spice Mix (separate recipe)
2 Cups Nuts (Mixed or your favorite)
1/4 cup sugar
Gingerbread Spice Mix:
1/4 cup ground ginger
3 tbsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
Use the recipe for Spice Mix below to season the nuts.
Preheat oven to 325°F. Melt 3 tbsp. butter in a medium saucepan. Stir in 1/2 cup brown sugar, 3 tbsp. brandy and 3 tsp. Spice Mix. Cook for 1 minute, then stir in 2 cups nuts. Spread on baking sheet in a single layer and cook for 20 minutes or until nuts are fragrant and lightly browned, stirring several times. Let cool slightly. Sprinkle 1/4 sugar over nuts and mix until coated. Let cool, then store in an airtight container.
Spice Mix: Stir together all ingredients in a small bowl. Store in an airtight container.
Once the nuts cool add to a cellophane bag and tie with a pretty bow so you can see the pretty mi inside.
