With parenthood comes many challenges. The more children you have, the more challenging life becomes. One of the biggest challenges that comes with being a mom is organization. You see, you no longer have to just organize your own life but also the lives of your little darlings. If you fail to do this, there’s no doubt about it; life will be highly chaotic.
You would think that organizing family life would be simple, but it’s far from it. Especially as each family member has their own daily schedule and commitments. Of course, just because organizing family life is sometimes a struggle, that doesn’t mean it’s not doable. Here is all the best advice for making family life less hectic and more organized.
Have a chalkboard in your kitchen
A simple way to keep track of anything that needs doing is by having a chalkboard in the kitchen. That way you can quickly and easily write important things down, such as the fact that your child’s school has an open day or a bake sale coming up. Next to it place a notice board with magnets on it, so that any school letters that need to be signed, and so on, can be placed there. For families with busy lives, a chalkboard can be a fantastic resource to have.
Get a family calendar
If you don’t already have a family calendar, you need to get one. These are such a fantastic organization tool, as they are divided up into different sections – one per family member. This means that you can keep track of school trips, play dates, and medical appointments for each child much more easily. If you don’t have a 2016 calendar, it’s probably too late to get one now. However, you can now get a 2017 calendar ready for the start of next year. Until then, you could also use a DIY calendar to keep track of each family member’s schedule. These are pretty easy to make – there are plenty of tutorials online that you can use.
Teach your kids to be responsible
One of the best things you can do to make family life more organized is teach your children to be responsible. For instance, in each child’s bedroom put a laundry basket that all dirty clothes should go in. Tell them that if they don’t put dirty clothes in their laundry basket, they won’t be washed. Each evening before going to bed, get your children to put their own school lunches together. Have an organizer filled with lunch snacks and allow your child to pick one of each snack type for their lunch. Believe it or not, it’s little chores like this that will help to make family life that little bit easier to keep organized.
Family life is always going to be hectic. However, by taking note of the suggestions above, you can make it easier to lead a more organized life. Believe it or not, a few small changes is all it takes to reduce stress caused by hectic schedules.
