Back to school is here again and we have all but one child in school, she is being prepared for kindergarten. I wanted to share with you all the fun and affordable school supplies the folks at Oriental Trading have to offer. I picked the following teacher resources listed below in exchange for my honest review.
I knew the one thing I wanted to do was make our little space look like a classroom so I picked some of my favorite classroom decorations I thought the kids would enjoy. There was a really cute Ninja calendar system I was pretty sure the kids would like. We also picked days of the week, upper and lower case alphabets, number cards, and dry erase clocks.
The number cards are sensory cards and each number has a felt like texture. After setting up the number cards, our youngest daughter immediately began tracing the numbers with her finger.
When my youngest were small I noticed the kids were really interested in telling time from a no-digital clock, that is why I picked the dry erase clocks. They get to try it over and over again in different ways. You can write the time and they have to draw the big and little hands. Or you can draw the big and little hands and they write what time it is.
This year we are doing a classroom calendar to help the kids develop more understanding of the months, days and holidays. I picked a ninja themed calendar. On the calendar we have birthdays, holidays and special events. I like to ask what day it is and they point on the calendar. We also have the days of the week listed on the other side of the wall and they point to what day it is and what day it will be tomorrow. Of course there is always the days of the week song they really get into.
Here is our little classroom or my dining room, it is also the place they do homework so it is the perfect spot. It’s not finished yet, I want to put the dry erase clocks up for when they are not in use, but still visible to practice. What do you think?
There are a lot of other great teacher supplies we got at Oriental Trading that I are not pictured. We picked dry erase clocks, pencils, glue sticks, glue, and markers.
