Did you know December 12th is National Ugly Sweater Day? I thought it would be a great day to throw an Ugly Sweater Party and help a good cause! Save the Children is calling on all tacky sweater fans to show off their holiday pride by wearing their knitted treasures and making a difference for millions of children in America and around the world.
I think it is important to get the kids involved, to show them how they can make a difference in the world. Having fun with an Ugly Sweater Party while helping those less fortunate is a great start. You can throw Party at Home, Work and at school…So here are some Party Ideas…
Send out invitations: Pick the Date, Place, make a list of friends and send the invitations out. If it is for a fund raiser be sure to include the $5 donation.
Make your Ugly Sweaters: There are a lot of places that sell Ugly Christmas Sweaters but I thought it would more fun to make our own. Every year when I pull out all the decorations there are always leftover garland and ornaments that would be perfect to deck our sweaters out. For the sweater we just picked a sweater in the back of the closet that we don’t wear any more. One of my girls is wearing the first Ugly Sweater we made. It still needs to be finished, but it’s a start.
What will you be serving: There are so many cute treats that come to mind; Sugar cookies shaped like Sweaters, and Sweater Shaped cakes. The rest of the food could be your basic party/Christmas foods.
Fun and Games: There has to be a contest for the “Ugliest” Ugly Sweater where everybody votes. A White Elephant gift exchange is always a blast. Pin the nose on Rudolf. A craft table to make an addition to your outfit like antler hat, Christmas tree out of cutout hands, etc…
