Yesterday was my daughter’s 17th birthday and I didn’t blog because I was busy working on her cake. She Loves all things Music, Art and Nutella so PapaBear had this great idea to make her a cake that looks like a Nutella Jar.
I started out baking, frosting between layers and freezing (makes it easier for carving)
I used a bowl just a bit smaller then the cake tracing around it and cut down about a half inch to make the lid. I carved a straight edge in front and rounded the shoulders of the jar.
It was time to frost Chocolate for the jar. I did battle with the little bits of cake and probably should have put it in the freezer a bit longer. Lesson learned.
Next I frosted the jar lid and the label. I practiced on a piece of paper first to get the right size and spacing of the lettering.
I found some cute glitter tubes at Walmart and used that for the lettering. And here is the finished product. Fondant might have been easier, but I haven’t worked with it enough.
