This past weekend was a busy yet fun one. We had family over while we did crafts, baking and cooking.
The highlight for the kids at least was making the Chex Mixes.
I have always wanted to make the original with the ingredients my family likes. So we started out with the original:
This recipe is so forgiving and open to variations. I put peanuts, twisted pretzels, Rice Chex, Corn chex and all the original seasoning… After we mixed that and warmed it in the microwave we let it sit:
We let this sit for a while, but the cereal seemed to take forever to get crispy so we put it in the oven for 15 minutes at 250 degrees. That was all it needed, because it was nice and crispy after that.
That took care of the salty so next we needed the sweet and I decided to go with the. The kids got excited for this as soon as I put the Hershey’s chocolate chips on the counter:

I followed the instructions and fought off little and big paws. The smell of chocolate was in the air and they were ready to pounce.
All this and we didn’t even start a party yet! Or did we, because it has been a blast so far…
There are plenty of recipes to exchange, my daughters eyes got all big when I told her about the Chex Cinnamon Cereal with Pumpkin Spice. I think my hubby would really love the Chex’s Chocolate Turtle.
