Before I began having babies I hadn’t had much experience in a hospital aside from a tonsillectomy. I had no idea how things worked.
Heck I always wanted to be a nurse till I learned I couldn’t stand the sight of blood.
I have always enjoyed my nurses sense of humor. Here are some things my nurses have said or done:
With baby #5
Nurse: ”Wow your umbilical cord is pretty.”
Me: Uh, thanks…
With baby #3
Nurse: give us a test push
Me: I don’t think I should, it only takes me a couple pushes.
Nurse: please give me a push
Me: ok
Nurse: omg nevermind stop and she puts a towel between my legs as though that will stop baby’s head from coming out.
With baby #6
I had an epidural and coughed.
Nurse comes running in: did you push?
Me: nope I just coughed.
Nurse: I’ll just check you anyway
She puts on glove looks to check comes right back up closes my knees tight together
Me: is she there
Nurse: oh yea!
Me: do you think if I close my knees together it will help?
We both laughed….
With each baby I delivered I saw just how much nurses did. They spend most of the time checking on me, prepping me, laboring with me and most of the time doing the same for a number of other mothers. They do all this then my doctors show up to deliver the baby. (Don’t get me wrong, I love my last two OB’s)
I am so thankful for my nurses, specially the ones that delivered two of my babies.
Thank you for all that you do!!

That is so funny! You do deliver easily! But I have never in my life heard of a pretty umbilical cord. You must be special!
LOL, yes I do. That was two babies ago and it still cracks me up.
