Friendship Bracelet Kit Giveaway

I love getting flowers now and then, but Valentine’s isn’t just for husbands and wives or boyfriends and girl friends.   The kiddos love Valentine’s Day for many reasons

  • all the activity with the cards;
  • picking their favorite ones
  • filling them out
  • giving them to their friends
  • and receiving them

The kids love getting hands busy with crafts.  This year I wanted to do something unique with my daughters.  So when CraftProjectideas.com told me about their Share The Love Promotion and all different projects like Personalized Frames, Made by Me Sand Art, Just my Style Pop art Jewelry,  and Just My Style Friendship Bracelets, I was in.

My kids came home from school and went nuts about the Friendship Bracelet kit I had on the table.

All the kids except the two babies sat down and started working.  Their biggest dilemma was how to keep the thread taught while they knotted.  Here are my suggestions:

  • Use a safety pin on the carpet (my stand by when I was a youngster)
  • tape it to the table
  • use a clip board

Here is a how-to video and step by step instructions to help you.

This kit comes with:

  • colorful embroidery thread
  • beads
  • charms
  • hair accessories
  • and a butterfly bead tray

My 7 year old wants to include a friendship bracelet to all her friends in their Valentine’s Cards.  This is an excellent project for anytime; holiday or not.  You can find this kit and other craft projects at your local Walmart.

Would you like to win this kit for your kiddos or to do with your kiddos?

Additional Tips/ Tricks from the Designer:

  • Used the Cricut Frosting Sheets for all of the white elements and made my own custom colored fondant for the red and aqua.
  • Decorated the back side of the cookies because it was a much flatter, smooth surface and the fondant looked so much better on a smooth surface.
  • Added edible pearl sprinkles for a fun touch.

Christmas Crafts – Fire Crackers

My Sis and I have been talking for years about making firecrackers for Christmas.  Finally 5 years later, we were able to get to it.  They are cute little crafts with candy or other goodies stuffed inside.

Here is how to make Christmas Firecrackers.

Supplies needed:

  • Paper Towel Rolls
  • Tissue Paper – The cuter the better with matching solid colors
  • Candy to stuff inside
  • Ribbon to tie them off
  • Scissors
Cut the paper towel rolls into thirds, cut those pieces in half.
Now it’s time to get your tissue ready:
Measure it up.  We folded the longest side three times, cut it and then folded that in half and cut it.  That was length we liked, but maybe you want it longer or shorter.
Next it was time to put the goodies in middle:
Put your favorite or their favorite goodies in there.  What about cute little figures, jewelry, chapstick it will be a nice surprise.
You can wrap the roll with tissue like the one above or you can layer papers so you see the different colors or different designs.  There are so many cute designs on tissue paper these days.
These are so simple and you can make so many variations to it including every other holiday… Here are some of our Christmas Firecrackers:
They can be put on the tree, passed out to family, given to teachers and class room friends.
This was easy and something everbody can do.  Enjoy!

Christmas Crafts with Construction Paper

My favorite time of year is finally here!!!  The first thing I do, after I get all gitty, is grab the construction paper, scissors, and glue…

The first thing I had the girls do was the traditional chain link.  My preschooler was put on glue duty.  We cut strips and put them into a pattern.  She learned to grab the proper strip (in accordance with the pattern) and glue them.  This gluing duty also helped her to know how much glue to use; she use to put a gallon on the paper.  My 7 year old would grab the glued strip and make the chain.

Next up we made a Christmas tree for our front window.  I put my preschooler on cutting out ornaments.  I thought this would help her to learn how to use the scissors.  Look at her, she id really focused:

This little one helped out too.  She got to color on the scraps.

We wanted to make a bigger tree, so I taped 3 pieces of paper together and here is my 7 year old cutting away.  After the tree she helped her sister glue on the ornaments and cut out a star…

Here is our finished product.  The girls thought it would be nice to make presents to put under the tree.

We have a lot more to do; Holly, candles, snow flakes, snow family, etc…  I’ll try and post pics as the get done.

Paper Mache Thanksgiving Center Piece

When holidays come around, I am in a big mood to craft.  Late one night last week the girls and I started a paper mache turkey.

We found a unused balloon from one of our many birthdays.

We grabbed some newspaper ads and made a mache mixture (1part flour 2parts water).

We cut strips of paper, dipped in the mache and loaded them evenly around the balloon.

Ok Remember I said it was late and I was tired.

Well we didn’t have any brown paint and for the life of me I couldn’t remember to get or couldn’t find brown paint when I went shopping.  So a couple days later after the balloon was good and dry we did something different.  We used brown construction paper with more mache.

Once that was complete and dry I had the girls cut out various (fall colored) strips for feathers, torso, beak and a waddle.
We used some left over wiggle eyes from previous projects and lots of elmer’s glue.

We glued “feathers” on the side and behind.  We glued the face and torse on the body (with some manipulation) and viola….

A Thanksgiving piece that can be used year round and the kids will remember having fun making it with you.
